" Life seen through the lens.  I don't pretend to be an intellectual or a philosopher. I just look.."  - Josef Koudelka

" To me. Photography is an art of observation. It's about finding something interesting in an ordinary place... I've found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them."  - Elliott Erwitt

" The contemplation of things as they are, without error or confusion, without substitution or imposture, is in itself a nobler thing than a whole harvest of invention"  - Francis Bacon

" what's so incredibly amusing with photography is that while seemingly an art of the surface, it catches things I haven't even noticed. And it pains me not to have see things in all their depth."  - Jacques Henri Lartigue

Michael Long lives in Matlock, Manitoba and finds most of his images in the surrounding prairie regions. He has a love for the landscape and it's ability to calm the senses and still the soul. He pursues photography to engage with the natural world in a manner that is spiritual , almost meditative. A state of "flow" can develop where one begins to perceive the presence of our Creator, in the mystical ground, underlying the fabric of the everyday and the ordinary. To receive an image that "sees" into this pattern, this wonder in our natural world, makes me feel more whole, more connected. I hope my images can impart a sense of that to you.
